1807 JR-1 Dime, VF Details
Struck 10% Off Center
1807 10C JR-1, R.1 -- Struck 10% Off Center, Cleaned -- NGC
Details. VF. The Draped Bust design was in its final year of
use on a dime, soon replaced by the Capped Bust type in 1809.
Likewise, the Heraldic Eagle reverse was retired from its double
duty on 1807 dimes and 1807 quarter eagles. This interesting and
important dime from John McCloskey's collection was struck 10% off
center south, with the obverse design elements showing strong
machine doubling. This pleasing example will command a wide
audience, despite the long-ago cleaning -- now hidden beneath an
