Description
Richly Detailed Uncirculated 1807 Dime, JR-1
1807 10C MS61 NGC. JR-1, R.2. The only die marriage known for 1807, which was also the final year of the Draped Bust, Heraldic Eagle type. Interestingly, the reverse die was previously used for the production of quarter eagles, in addition to its hardy service in the production of dimes. Dusky golden-brown and silver-gray patina illuminates this satiny and splendidly defined representative. The reverse is essentially unabraded, while the obverse has only a few light handling marks in the field near Liberty's chin. Struck from a heavily clashed obverse die on a slightly wavy flan.Ex: Portland Signature (Heritage, 5/2004), lot 5499.(Registry values: P5)
