    Description

Well Struck 1807 Dime, MS63 PCGS

1807 10C MS63 PCGS. JR-1, the only known die pairing of the year, R.2. This final year Heraldic Eagle issue is occasionally seen in Mint State, but most are rather drab examples that are invariably poorly struck on the left side. This brightly lustrous specimen is a welcome exception, with relatively sharp details over all but the left stars, as well as weakness on star 13. Liberty's hair strands display good definition, as do the eagle's breast feathers. Each side is visited by light orange-gold, grayish-blue, and lavender toning. A few grade-limiting marks are noted on Liberty's face and neck. The design elements are well centered on the planchet. Population: 42 in 63, 32 finer (6/05).
