Attractive, Lightly Toned MS62 1807 Dime

1807 10C MS62 PCGS. JR-1, the only known dies, R.2. The 1807 is virtually tied with the 1805 as the most frequently encountered Draped Bust dime. It is also occasionally available in Uncirculated grades, and as such is a logical choice for high grade type collectors. This piece shows weakness on the left obverse stars, as always seen, probably from the coins having been struck from misaligned dies. Also, the ubiquitous die clash marks are seen in the right obverse field. This particular coin has very pleasing, soft mint luster, and each side has silvery-gray centers that are surrounded by golden toning at the margins. The striking details are especially strong in the centers on each side.
From the James L. Moore Collection.
