Description

1795 Draped Bust Dollar, AU58
Centered Portrait, B-15, BB-52

1795 $1 Draped Bust, Centered, B-15, BB-52, R.2, AU58 NGC. Bowers Die State IV. A die break is located on Liberty's hair near the ribbon, as seen on most examples of this die marriage. The portrait is well-centered, distinguishing this variety from the only other Draped Bust marriage for the year. This needle-sharp, near-Mint representative has mottled silver, gold, and gray toning on both sides. Friction is practically indiscernible, while the visual quality is readily appealing. Parallel adjustment marks occur over the eagle. Census: 2 in 58, 5 finer (3/17).
Ex: FUN Signature (Heritage, 1/2002), lot 7174.
