1795 Draped Bust Dollar, VF35
Off-Center Bust Variety, B-14, BB-51

1795 $1 Draped Bust, Off-Center, B-14, BB-51, R.2, VF35 PCGS. Bowers Die State III. BB-51 is considered to be the first Draped Bust die marriage of any denomination. The bust punch crowds the left-hand stars and makes the obverse visually unbalanced. The lesson of misplacement was learned, and not repeated for subsequent Draped Bust obverse dies. This Choice VF silver dollar displays golden-gray central elements that deepen to rich bluish-gray at the obverse margins. The reverse is silver-gray. Post-strike contact is minimal, limited to a few minor marks and faint abrasions throughout the open fields.
