    B-7, BB-18 1795 Dollar, Fine Details
    Mint-Inserted Silver Plug

1795 $1 Flowing Hair, Three Leaves, Silver Plug, B-7, BB-18, R.3 -- Repaired -- PCGS Genuine. Fine Details. The BB-18 variety (Bolender-7) is one of the Flowing Hair varieties to show a Mint inserted Silver Plug more often than other die marriages. The roster of Notable Specimens in the Bowers reference contains no less than three dollars with the plug out of nine high-grade coins listed. This example is of a lesser grade, but still a clear example of the Silver Plug anomaly. The surfaces are tooled and smoothed and, in our opinion, recolored to hide the work, yet the outline of a circular plug is easily seen on the reverse at the eagle's breast and right wing. Any Silver Plug example is in strong demand by early dollar specialists.
