    Description

    1795 B-4, BB-14 Silver Plug Dollar, XF40
    Bowers Plate Coin

1795 $1 Flowing Hair, Two Leaves, Silver Plug XF40 PCGS Secure. B-4, BB-14, R.3. The outline of the Mint inserted silver plug is clearly visible on the reverse of this Flowing Hair dollar. The existence of a 1795 B-4, BB-14 dollar struck over a 1794 dollar, a coin that we sold in August 2004, suggests that this variety was one of the earliest 1795 Flowing Hair dollar varieties, minted early in 1795.

This example is plated The Encyclopedia of United States Silver Dollars 1794-1804, by Q. David Bowers. A few trivial scratches and circulation marks are present on this antique gray example, showing delicate splashes of gold toning. Population: 6 in 40, 21 finer (1/14), for all 1795 Silver Plug dollars.
    Ex: Hesselgesser Collection (Goldberg Coins, 6/2011), lot 870.(Registry values: P4) (NGC ID# 24WZ, PCGS# 6854)

The marketing was exceptional from the photos to the ads in Civil War Times and North South Trader for the cross over people!!! I have had many emails from my Civil War collecting fraternity that saw these and I saw them at the national show in Nashville/Franklin in early December.
