1798 $1 Large Eagle, Pointed 9, Close Date, 4 Lines, B-27,
BB-113, R.2, XF45 PCGS. Ex: The Peh Family Collection.
Bowers-Borckardt Die State II. Deep gunmetal gray patina, is
complemented with charcoal color at the right side of the obverse
and olive-gray throughout. Well-struck with no mentionable marks or
abrasions. The 8 in the date is entered too high, while the 9 leans
slightly to the left. A die crack travels through the upper third
of OF, but the crack at the base of STA has not yet formed.Ex: Long Beach Signature (Heritage, 6/2005), lot 6601.
