    1798 B-27, BB-113 Dollar, AU58
First Obverse Die Use, Last Reverse Use

1798 $1 Large Eagle, Pointed 9, Close Date AU58 NGC. B-27, BB-113, R.2 The "workhorse" obverse die was used with seven different reverse dies, and is seen here in its first use, with a die crack from the denticles below the 9, curving to the left below the date on its way to join star 1. The reverse die was used for four die marriages and is in its final use here, showing several thin die cracks and other minuscule die markers.
This near-Mint specimen has full satin luster with only a slight break on the high points, all beneath intense lime, pale blue, rose, and violet toning on each side. Surface marks are minimal, and eye appeal is excellent.(Registry values: N2998) (NGC ID# 24X6, PCGS# 6873)
