Description
1798 $1 Large Eagle, Pointed 9, Close Date, B-29, BB-119, R.4, Fine 15 PCGS. "Bowers Die State III," an unlisted late die state with a large retained die break surrounding the 8 in the date. A nearly vertical crack is east of the 8. A powder-blue, stone-gray, and tan-gold example with soft definition on the stars above the eagle, likely due to metal flow into the obverse break during the strike.
