Slate-Gray 7x6 Stars Type
1799 $1 7x6 Stars, B-10, BB-163, R.2, XF40 NGC. Ex: The Peh
Family Collection. Bowers-Borckardt Die State II. Minimally worn,
slate-gray surfaces exhibit traces of intermixed rose patina and a
couple of darker charcoal areas. The number of abrasions is minimal
for the grade. Along with the BB-166, BB-163 is the most plentiful
die marriage of the 1799 silver dollar. The present offering
contains the crack under CA, but the later die cracks have yet to
develop.Ex: The Dr. Theodore Almquist Collection / Long Beach Signature (Heritage, 6/2005), lot 6619.
