    Description

    Richly Toned 1800 Silver Dollar VF35 NGC, B-16, BB-187, R.2.

1800 $1 VF35 NGC. B-16, BB-187, R.2. Attributed by a die dot just to the left of Liberty's highest hair curl, and die flaws above ES of STATES on the reverse. Die State III, the roughness above ES developing into a "prominent period-like crack," according to Bowers-Borckardt. This example presents rich rose-gray toning, with cobalt-blue accents on both sides. The strike is excellent, and this piece is only slightly disturbed by a few small abrasions and adjustment marks, almost all of which are located on the obverse. One somewhat heavier scratch (possibly another adjustment mark) is seen in the field area beneath obverse star 7, stretching to below the I in LIBERTY.(Registry values: N1793) (NGC ID# 24X9, PCGS# 6887)
