1802 $1 Wide Date, B-5, BB-242, R.5 -- Cleaned -- NGC Details.
AU. Bowers Die State I. The very scarce BB-242 is a Guide
Book variety, the sole non-overdated 1802 Wide Date die
marriage. Nonetheless, it carries only a modest premium above the
comparatively common Narrow Date BB-241. This partly lustrous
example is minimally toned aside from an area of deep lavender
patina near 9 o'clock on the reverse. The obverse is mildly bright
and minutely granular. The left obverse field is moderately
abraded. Apparently double struck, with lengthy dentils from a
