1795 Flowing Hair Dollar, Fine 15 Details
B-1, BB-21, Popular Two Leaves Variety

1795 $1 Flowing Hair, Two Leaves, B-1, BB-21, R.2 -- Repaired - Cleaned -- ANACS. Fine 15 Details. Bowers Die State I. The B-1, BB-21 variety is easily the most available Two Leaves variety, surviving in nearly all grades. Liberty's head sits high, slightly closer to LIBERTY than many other Flowing Hair varieties and the 7 in the date is struck over an errant 1. This well-circulated example displays pleasing golden-gray toning despite an old cleaning and an attempt to minimize some lengthy horizontal scratches that terminate between stars 13 and 14. Magnification reveals other light tooling around the peripheries and within the right obverse field, where faint abrasions and hair-thin lines are present. A few remnant adjustment marks run vertically through the central hair strands. The in-hand appearance of this coin is quite pleasing despite the noted handwork and slightly weak central strike.
