1795 Draped Bust Dollar, AU50
Off-Center Portrait, B-14, BB-51

1795 $1 Draped Bust, Off-Center, B-14, BB-51, R.2, AU50 PCGS. Bowers Die State I, the usual perfect dies. Dave Bowers explains in the revised edition of his Silver Dollar Encyclopedia that as a type, 1795 Draped Bust dollars are much scarcer than their Flowing Hair counterparts. On their own, BB-51 (Off-Center Bust) and BB-52 (Centered Bust) dollars are still collectible in lower circulated grades, with the former being more available than the latter. Accessibility begins to decline significantly at the AU grade level.

This Almost Uncirculated example of the inaugural-year type by Robert Scot enjoys attractive antique patina with luminous accents of rose, violet, and peach-orange. Both sides are generally smooth and uniformly well-struck, with bold detail on the curls and breast feathers. There are a few small digs around the eagle's head, and as-made file marks occur along the right obverse border.
