    1795 13 Leaves Eagle, BD-2, AU Details
Appropriate for a High-Grade Type Set

1795 $10 13 Leaves --Repaired-- NGC Details. AU. Breen-6830, Taraszka-2, BD-2, High R.4 On the BD-2 variety, the obverse can be identified by the widely spaced date, with the tip of the 5 touching the bust, and the distance between star 11 and the Y in LIBERTY. On the reverse, one of the leaves in the branch nearly touches the U in UNITED. Dannreuther believes that 90 to 110 examples of this variety still exist from an original mintage of 1,500 to 2,332 coins.
The luminous surfaces of this AU Details specimen display uniform yellow-gold color and well defined design elements, save for weakness on the eagle's torso and about one-half of the dentilation. Some light adjustment marks are noted on the reverse margin, but no mentionable abrasions are evident. A wavy appearance is visible over both sides, perhaps indicating the coin was bent and then straightened. No other repairs are readily evident. This will be a nice addition to a high-grade type collection, despite the NGC disclaimer.(Registry values: P5) (NGC ID# 25ZU, PCGS# 8551)
