    Description

Well Struck, Uncirculated 1797 Large Eagle Ten

1797 $10 Large Eagle MS61 PCGS. B. 2-C, Taraszka-12, R.4. First year of the heraldic eagle type and a median rarity in the series. This variety is characterized by the "cross" star arrangement on the reverse and the alignment of stars 2 through 8 toward the eagle's eye. This variety is even scarcer as a late die state with the die break between ER to the leaf, as seen on this piece. This break was undoubtedly the cause of the early discarding of this die. The surfaces have the usual bright green-gold coloration and traces of satiny luster intermixed with the semi-reflectiveness in the fields. Sharply struck throughout and well centered with a number of small, insignificant marks on each side that make this piece appear even finer at first glance than the stated grade.(#8559) (Registry values: P3) (NGC ID# 25ZY, PCGS# 8559)

    Weight: 17.50 grams

    Metal: 91.67% Gold, 8.33% Copper
