    Description

    1799 BD-10 Eagle, AU50
    Large Stars Obverse

1799 $10 Large Obverse Stars, BD-10, R.3, AU50 PCGS. Mint records suggest that 37,449 eagles were struck in 1799, and the mintage consisted of 10 different die pairs, posing a challenge to specialists. Housed in an old PCGS green-label holder is a lovely example of the 1799 BD-10 eagle, the most plentiful 1799 variety, and the second-most available variety of the entire early eagle series. As such, this is an excellent type coin for the design collector who seeks just one example of the Capped Bust/Heraldic Eagle ten. This example has an excellent strike with satiny yellow-gold surfaces, retaining considerable luster on both sides. Here is an important opportunity for the advanced specialist or the design type collector. (NGC ID# 2625, Variety PCGS# 45723, Base PCGS# 8562)
