Description

1799 BD-10 Eagle, AU55 Details
Large Stars Obverse

1799 $10 Large Stars Obverse -- Scratched, Cleaned -- ANACS. AU55 Details. BD-10, R.3. A yellow-gold example, bright from dipping and untoned, but not harshly cleaned, with a few light pinscratches on both the obverse and reverse, the most objectionable one traveling from the field near Liberty's forelock across the nose, cheek, and neck.
From an early state of the dies without cracks, die clashing, or die lapping. This is a nicely detailed early eagle with little actual wear, and a coin that will improve if given a chance to naturally recover. Some peripheral luster remains. Housed in an earlier generation ANACS holder.(Registry values: P1)
