Description
1799 Capped Bust Right Eagle
Better BD-6 Variety, Small Obverse Stars
1799 $10 Small Obverse Stars, BD-6, R.5 -- Cleaned -- PCGS
Genuine. Bass-Dannreuther Die State d/a. The PCGS number ending
in .80 suggests PCGS deemed this coin not gradable. In our opinion,
this coin has the details of an About Uncirculated coin that has
been cleaned and perhaps lightly buffed. Pleasing orange-gold color
survives and the motifs are sharply defined A heavy die crack runs
from the edge through the points of star 8 along the rear edge of
the cap. John Dannreuther estimates only 35 to 45 pieces are known
in all grades combined from the BD-6 dies.Ex: Long Beach Signature (Heritage, 9/2023), lot 3126.
