Description

Attractive 1799 Capped Bust Eagle, B. 4-E

1799 $10 Small Stars Obverse AU55 PCGS. Breen-6840, B.4-E, Taraszka-19, R.3. Irregular Date obverse. Bright and lustrous and appealing. We note a minor edge mark on the reverse near the right wing tip, and the dentils are weak on the lower right obverse, apparently as struck by the Mint. The surfaces are very pleasing for the grade, with no distracting adjustment marks or circulation evidence to detract from the coin. Although a common variety, these are always in strong demand by type and date collectors. This is a later die state example with rim breaks in the dentils over stars 7 and 8, and a die crack from the border through E of LIBERTY to the protruding hair curl.(#98562) (Registry values: P2)
