Description

Important MS62 1799 Heraldic Eagle Ten
BD-7, Irregular Date, Small Obverse Stars

1799 $10 Small Stars Obverse MS62 NGC. Irregular Date, Breen-6840, Taraszka-19, BD-7, R.3. Bass-Dannreuther Die State f/d. Die lapping (as made) has attenuated the clouds and caused moderately prooflike fields. Slender die breaks on the left-side obverse dentils are of mint origin and should not be confused for rim detractions. The flashy canary-gold fields display surprisingly few marks for the MS62 level, although tiny ticks are clustered immediately above the eagle's head. The strike is precise, since only a couple of breast feathers lack full definition. An important example of this coveted large diameter gold type.(Registry values: P2)
