Description
Radiant BD-1 1800 Eagle, AU55
1800 $10 AU55 NGC. Breen-6842, Taraszka-23, BD-1, High R.3. The only die pair known for the year, with an 1800-dated obverse paired with a workhorse reverse that had served in 1799 and would see use again in 1801. This modestly worn example is well-defined overall, if slightly soft at the word STATES and a few of the obverse stars. Sun-yellow and orange-gold colors mingle on surprisingly radiant surfaces. The minor marks and wispy abrasions present in the fields are well-scattered, making this an attractive coin for the grade and type. Census: 22 in 55, 67 finer (7/09).(Registry values: P2)Coin Index Numbers: (PCGS# 8563, GSID# 9347)
Metal: 91.67% Gold, 8.33% Copper
Weight: 17.50 grams
AGW: 0.51577oz
