Bass-Dannreuther Obverse Die State b / Reverse Die State c. Only
the single die pairing known as BD-1 is recognized for the 1800
eagles, produced to the extent of a reported 5,999 coins. While the
obverse die dated 1800 is obviously an original, the reverse is a
carryover from the BD-10 of 1799.
Sole Die Pairing for the Year
This piece is strictly Mint State, with the luster thicker around the devices than in the fields. There are light planchet adjustment marks on the right side of the bust and over the denticles on the right side of the obverse. A few stray abrasions are consistent with the grade, but the only mentionable areas of contact are at the top of the cap and just behind the hair in the left obverse field.
