    Description

1801 MS 63 PCGS. Wide Date. B. 2-B. The Wide Date 1801s are the most common variety among all 1795-1804 eagles. As such many of them are held in type collections as there is little demand for the variety. This piece would certainly make a good type coin for an advanced gold collector. The surfaces are exceptionally clean with only the tiniest abrasions noted. The central devices show pinpoint striking definition with some softness at the peripheries. Adequately lustrous with attractive golden-olive color, this is an attractive early ten. Population: 14 in 63, only 6 finer (6/96). (NGC ID# 2627, PCGS# 8564)

    Weight: 17.50 grams

    Metal: 91.67% Gold, 8.33% Copper
