Popular, Available Variety, BD-3

1803 $10 Small Stars Reverse--Improperly Cleaned--NGC. VF Details. Breen 6844, BD-3, R.4. Six varieties of ten dollar gold coins were minted in 1803. The BD-3 variety, characterized by the placement of the foot of the E in STATES above a cloud space, is the most available of the six varieties. An estimated 150-200 examples are known today, from an estimated mintage of 7,500-10,000 coins. The present coin retains most of the original detail on all design elements. The surfaces are only lightly abraded, if somewhat muted and slightly granular. Eye appeal is strong for the grade.(Registry values: P2)
