    Description

    Appealing 1803 Eagle, AU58 Details

1803 $10 Small Stars Reverse--Tooled--ANACS. AU58 Details. Breen-6844, B. 1-A, Taraszka-28, R.4. Wrongly attributed by ANACS on the holder as Large Stars. This Small Stars variety has the right side of the second E in STATES over a space between two clouds, with its top higher than the adjacent T. This is the famous Horned Eagle variety, with a pair of "horns" atop the eagle's head from die clash marks. Despite an excellent job of apparently "strengthening" the already-bold hair tresses, as well as the botched removal of a small alloy spot on the reverse, this well struck coin is highly attractive, with appealing copper-gold color, and presents no other obvious problems. There are light adjustment marks through several peripheral areas of the reverse, none overly distracting.(Registry values: P2) (NGC ID# 2629, PCGS# 8565)

    Weight: 17.50 grams

    Metal: 91.67% Gold, 8.33% Copper
