1801 BD-2 Eagle, AU Details
Strong Design Definition Remains

1801 $10 BD-2, R.2 -- Damage, Whizzed -- NGC Details. AU. Bass-Dannreuther Die State a/a, without clash marks. The 1801 BD-2 eagle represents the most plentiful die marriage in the entire early eagle series. About 600 to 800 pieces are thought to exist. This example shows evidence of damage above stars 1 to 3 and on Liberty's drapery below the neck. The surfaces are unnaturally bright from whizzing, which was done in an effort to smooth out the flaws. This becomes, as a result, a relatively affordable Draped Bust eagle considering the design definition that remains.
