    1792 Half Disme, Judd-7, Fine 15 Details
    First United States Regular-Issue Coinage

1792 H10C Half Disme, Judd-7, Pollock-7, R.4 -- Scratched, Cleaned -- ANACS. Fine 15 Details. Traditionally collected with the pattern series, the 1792 half disme is more properly considered a regular-issue. The dies were probably engraved by Robert Birch. At least 1,500 examples were struck in Samuel Harper's cellar, before the U.S. Mint officially opened. Approximately 300 specimens survive today and collectors prize examples in all grades and conditions.

The present coin offers evenly worn surfaces that retain significant amounts of mint luster, despite the noted cleaning. Attractive shades of cerulean-blue and golden-brown toning enhance the considerable eye appeal of this piece. A few deep scratches on the reverse constitute the noted damage.
From the collection of Donald E. Bently, sold for the benefit of the Bently Foundation.(Registry values: P9) (NGC ID# D93T, PCGS# 11020)
