    Aesthetically Pleasing 1792 Half Disme

1792 H10C Half Disme, Judd-7, Pollock-7, R.4, VG8 NGC. It is always a special event when even a single 1792 half disme is offered in an auction, but the present sale has three different examples ranging from a Superb Specimen-67 grade coin, down to a more affordable holed example. This third piece also falls in the more affordable category. Although both sides have numerous wispy hairlines, the deep steel toning subdues their appearance, and makes this example a completely desirable specimen. The obverse is nicely detailed, while the upper right part of the reverse is poorly defined, as usual for examples at this grade range. An historic coin that is considered by most to be the first official coin of the United States. For the interested reader, extensive historical information is provided in our description of the Specimen example in this catalog.

I received the catalog and was very impressed with its color illustrations, descriptions and attractive layout. (It has better production values than the New York houses.)
