    Description

    1794 Half Dime, Sharp XF45
    Rare V-1, LM-1 Die Pairing

1794 H10C V-1, LM-1, R.6, XF45 PCGS. LM-1 is the rarest of the four 1794 half dime varieties. For the variety enthusiast, this Choice XF example is something to get excited about. The sharpness of the central devices is nearly AU, although the deep gunmetal-gray and olive patina encourages the XF assessment. Much of the weakness around the peripheries is due to mint-made planchet adjustments, with the telltale file marks still visible along portions of the rims. A planchet lamination covers most of the IC in AMERICA. LM-1 is rare enough that any example is worthy of a premium bid. (NGC ID# 22ZT, Variety PCGS# 38581, Base PCGS# 4250)
