    Description

    1794 Half Dime, Bold AU55
    Rare V-2, LM-2 Variety

1794 H10C V-2, LM-2, R.5, AU55 PCGS. The second-rarest die pair for the 1794 is attributed by the leaf tip under the U in UNITED and the R in LIBERTY mostly right of the hair curls. Reportedly, 7,756 half dimes were delivered on March 30, 1795. Most were dated 1794, but the group possibly included a small number of 1795 coins. Many 1794 half dimes were saved as first-year souvenirs, although few are as well-preserved as this brilliant Choice AU piece. The motifs are strongly defined with normal softness on the curl tips and extreme centers. Population (all varieties): 9 in 55, 58 finer (8/16).
