    Description

Significant 1795 Half Dime MS62 NGC

1795 H10C MS62 NGC. V-2, LM-3, R.5. The second and final year of the Flowing Hair type produced ten different die marriages. V-5, which has a die crack from the rim to the nose, is the usually seen variety. It is not to be confused with Valentine-2, identified by the slender but prominent straight crack from 12:30 through the R in LIBERTY that travels most of the way across Liberty's hair. This pleasing example is crisply struck on the devices, with breast feathers faintly present on the eagle. The left side borders are soft due to the die alignment. No contact is readily detected, and the nearly untoned surfaces display impressive mint flash. For the specialist, this lot provides the opportunity to acquire the difficult Valentine-2 variety in Mint State, likely for only a small premium above a Flowing Hair type coin.(#4251) (Registry values: P4) (NGC ID# 22ZV, PCGS# 4251)
