Description

1795 V-4, LM-10 Half Dime, MS62
CAC Approved, Splashes of Blue Toning

1795 H10C V-4, LM-10, R.3, MS62 NGC. CAC. Splendid golden-brown, ocean-blue, and plum colors embrace this satiny and unmarked Mint State Flowing Hair half dime. The eye appeal is undeniable, and the strike is crisp aside from the eagle's breast feathers, which are almost always weak for the type.
While two dates of Flowing Hair half dimes are known, all examples were produced in calendar year 1795, with the first such delivery occurring on March 30 of that year. For the date of 1795, ten die marriages are known. Most surviving examples stem from the final three die marriages, LM-8, 9, and 10. The present LM-10, potentially the most available of them all, is easily identified by the presence of one outer and zero inner berries under the left wing. This example is a late die state with a prominent cud above the TY in LIBERTY and the adjacent star, and its presence is also an LM-10 diagnostic.
