Description
1795 V-4, LM-10 Half Dime, MS63
Lustrous Survivor; Cud Over TY
1795 H10C V-4, LM-10, R.3, MS63 NGC. Silver and steel-gray
surfaces are speckled with russet-brown on the obverse, creating a
very original and attractive patina. Luster is strong, as is the
strike, with the left wing and lowest curls displaying the only
notable weakness. Abrasions are nearly nonexistent. The LM-10 is
the final and most available die marriage of a year that contains
seven very rare die marriages and three that comprise most of the
surviving population. It can be easily identified by the presence
of one outer berry and no inner berries under the wings, a feature
that is found on no other reverse dies of the year, and on a die
that is found on no other die marriages of the year. The present
offering is a late die state, with the characteristic cud over TY
and star 9 that can also identify the die marriage at a glance when
present. From The Brittany Legacy Collection, Part III.
