    Description

NGC 1795 MS 63. V-5a, R.3. Seven curls with the diagnostic die crack from the rim through Y in LIBERTY to the bridge of the nose. This distinctive reverse shows three berries left and four right with a bold die scratch extending up parallel to the A in STATES. Marvelous, rich old-gold toning with iridescent blue-green interspersed creates a truly lovely visual effect. There are no obvious abrasions and the luster is bright and satiny. The coin could be considered undergraded and is probably only held back from a higher grade by the presence of numerous, but shallow, adjustment marks on the reverse. Undoubtedly from the Wadsworth-Rea hoard of the early 1880s. (NGC ID# 22ZV, PCGS# 4251)
