Description

1797 Half Dime, AU50
16 Stars, V-4, LM-2, CAC Endorsed

1797 H10C 16 Stars, V-4, LM-2, R.4, AU50 PCGS. CAC. The LM-2 variety is a scarce die marriage, as are all the 1797 varieties except LM-1, which is moderately more available. This is a late die state LM-2 example, with prominent clash marks on each side and a network of cracks near the ED in UNITED. Rich sun-gold, olive-green, and lavender toning embraces this lightly abraded early half dime. The small eagle is softly brought up, as always for the variety, but the remainder of the design is well defined. CAC endorsement confirms high quality for the assigned AU50 grade. PCGS Population (16 Stars varieties): 6 in 50, 21 finer. CAC: 1 in 50, 7 finer (2/25).
