    Rare V-3, LM-3 Die Pair

    1797 H10C 16 Stars VF30 PCGS. CAC. V-3, LM-3, R.5. The 1797 half dimes exist with three distinctly different obverse layouts having 13 stars, 15 stars, and 16 stars. The 15 Stars coins were struck first from leftover 1796 dies, the 16 Stars coins were next, and finally the 13 Stars coins came last. This pleasing VF30 specimen has a blend of tan, gray, and steel surfaces with adequate detail for the grade and pleasing surfaces. Population: 4 in 30, 37 finer (1/13).
