Description

1800 Draped Bust Half Dime, MS62
LIBEKTY, V-2, LM-3 Variety
Colorfully Toned

1800 H10C LIBEKTY, V-2, LM-3, R.4, MS62 PCGS. LIBEKTY variety. The broken top on R of LIBERTY earns the nickname for this popular die pair, with its obverse die shared on the rare LM-4 variety. Vibrant, calico toning displays emerald-green, cerulean-blue, and orange-gold colors throughout the obverse, while the reverse is equally lustrous in shades of blue, lavender, and ivory-silver. As often seen, weakness at the central reverse is partially due to die damage at BUS of PLURIBUS, while a few field stars are softly struck as is the eagle's right (facing) wing tip. Faint abrasions exist beneath the toning, yet this Mint State example is seldom exceeded for the die marriage, which resides well within the LM-3 Condition Census.
