    Description

    1800 Half Dime, V-1, LM-1, MS63
    Attractive, Lightly Toned Example

1800 H10C V-1, LM-1, R.3, MS63 PCGS Secure. CAC. Ex: Simpson. Liberty's hair strands stand out boldly on this Select Uncirculated example, with a pleasing amount of iridescence adding appeal to the smooth surfaces. A total of four die pairs are known for the date and all are scarce, although this V-1 example is moderately more available than the others.

The coin is lightly die clashed on the obverse above the date, and on the reverse among the field stars as are many of the issue. The portrait of Liberty is brilliant silver-white, framed by lightly reflective, orange-gold fields. The reverse displays a slightly deeper orange-gold patina, with a hint of blue at the rims. Well struck on Liberty's portrait, although this example shows blending on the bust drapery as well as at the corresponding field stars and clouds on the opposite side of the coin. A tiny rim flaw is easy to miss above star 7, but it does not distract. This example comes from the collection of Robert Simpson, identified on the holder with CAC endorsement.
