Description

1800 Half Dime, V-1, LM-1, MS63
Lustrous and Lightly Toned

1800 H10C V-1, LM-1, R.3, MS63 PCGS. The quaint 8 in the date is made from two small "o" punches, one atop the other. The 1 is close to the curl, the second 0 close to the bust. On the reverse, the eagle bites down on the top point of star 12 with his upper beak. This is a lovely and lustrous Select Mint State example with light die clashing on each side, noted above the date, before the neck, and within the star pattern on the reverse. Silver-gray areas complement rim toning in shades of pinkish-orange, mint, and sky-blue. The strike is adequate overall, save for a couple of upper stars and right-side clouds on the reverse. Population (all varieties included): 17 in 63 (1 in 63+), 16 finer (6/16).
Ex: FUN Signature (Heritage, 1/2014), lot 5177.
