    Bright, Near-Mint 1801 Half Dime

    1801 H10C AU58 NGC. JR-1, V-1, LM-2, R.4. Star 12 on the reverse appears to touch both the upper and lower portions of the eagle's beak. Both sides present an essentially brilliant finish with only the slightest visible patina. There are a few minor handling marks, but these do not distract. Bold clashmarks are noted particularly in the right obverse field. One of only two die pairings known for the year, and in demand from both date and variety collectors.
