    Description

    1803 Half Dime, AU50
    V-1, LM-2, Leaf Joined to C
    Large 8 Variety

1803 H10C Large 8 AU50 PCGS. V-1, LM-2, R.4. While scarce, the LM-2 variety is the second-most available die pair of the date -- less common than LM-3 with the leaf distant from the C in AMERICA, but more obtainable than the small 8 LM-1 rarity. This example displays colorful blue and orange-gold highlights over silver-gray surfaces, with ample hints of remaining mint luster. Light wear on the high points does not disturb a sharp strike on the devices. With a comparatively large mintage of 37,850 pieces, the 1803 half dime is a popular date for type collectors needing an example of the Draped Bust/ Heraldic Eagle design.
