Originally Toned AU 1805 Half Dime1805 H10C AU53 PCGS. Ex: Pittman. V-1, LM-1, R.4, the only dies. When the present piece appeared in the first Pittman sale, it was graded by Akers as Choice AU, and described as "certainly in the condition census for the date, possibly even the second or third finest known." Richly toned in golden-brown, apple-green, and rose colors. A few minor marks are noted but do not challenge the eye appeal. Portions of the shield and the right wingtip are not fully struck, other areas of the design have exquisite definition. A rare opportunity to obtain one of the finest examples of this difficult and under appreciated date.
Ex: David Bullowa, 5/52, lot 1021, which realized $88; John Jay Pittman Collection, Part One (Akers, 10/97), lot 430, which realized $14,300.(#4272)(Registry values: P7) (NGC ID# 232A, PCGS# 4272)
