    Description

    1805 V-1, LM-1 Half Dime, XF40
    Second-Rarest Draped Bust Issue

1805 H10C XF40 PCGS. V-1, LM-1, R.4. The only dies for this difficult date. Pleasing tobacco-brown and powder-blue enriches the surfaces, which are smooth aside from a couple of faded thin marks on the field beneath the chin. Luster brightens the hair, wings, and legends. The usual strike for the 1805, with softness noted on the bust truncation and opposite on the upper right reverse. A scant 15,600 pieces were struck, since bullion depositors preferred the more convenient half dollar. The final date of the Draped Bust type, and the rarest date with the exception of the famous 1802. Population: 5 in 40, 11 finer (5/12).
    From The Norva Collection.(Registry values: P7) (NGC ID# 232A, PCGS# 4272)

Thanks to Heritage I realized a handsome profit for my coin submissions and intend to send most of the remainder of my collection to Heritage Auction Galleries for future auctions.
