    Description

    Historically Important 1792 Half Disme

1792 Half Disme Fine 12. As with most half dismes, this piece saw extensive use as a circulating coin, even though it was produced strictly as a pattern. There are several small planchet flakes out of the reverse, a trait common to most surviving examples of this issue. The coin also seems to have been struck on a slightly buckled planchet. There are light hairlines across each side, but these were done many years (probably decades) ago, and the coin has toned a rich russet-brown around the outer margins, giving the piece a more natural appearance and greatly subduing the effects of the old cleaning. A rare and valuable coin of great numismatic and historic importance.
