Description

Well-Defined 1794 Half Dollar
Rare O-106, Genuine

1794 50C PCGS Genuine. O-106, R.6. The PCGS number ending in .92 suggests Cleaning as the reason, or perhaps one of the reasons, that PCGS deemed this coin not gradable. In our opinion, this piece has the details of an upper-end Fine specimen that has been cleaned and lightly scratched.
This rare variety is identified by the following: on the obverse, star 2 is attached to the lowest curl; on the reverse, there are 21 berries, the only reverse with such (10 left and 11 right). Light hairlines are visible under magnification, and ancient shallow scratches are somewhat more prevalent on the obverse. Both sides are retoning bluish-gray and gold, slightly deeper in hue in the fields and the recesses. Most of Liberty's hair strands show as do about two-thirds of the wing feathers. The interested bidder should not be intimidated as the above-mentioned blemishes do not significantly detract.
