Description

Important Late State 1795 O-102a Half

1795 50C 2 Leaves--Cleaned--ANACS. Fine 15 Details. O-102a, R.4. ANACS mis-attributed as O-105a. The obverse is cracked from the bust to border between the digit 5 and star 15, and also lightly from the border through the E in LIBERTY. Other obverse die cracks are obscured by the surface quality. The reverse has a faint die crack through the tops of AMERI and a heavy, prominent die crack at the lower left, from the border through the left ribbon end, outer leaves, tip of the wing, and T, to the border over this letter where the crack splits with a cud between the branches.
Somewhat mottled pewter-gray color with minor abrasions and hairlines. This piece has been cleaned and appears unnaturally bright.
Haseltine-1; Beistle 1b-Aa; Overton-5; Hilt 20-S; PCGS# 6052; Encyclopedia-4560.
