Description

1795 Flowing Hair Half, Fine 12
Rare O-114 Variety

1795 50C 2 Leaves, O-114, T-15, R.6, Fine 12 PCGS Secure. Tompkins Die State 1/1. The O-114 (T-15) variety is a classic rarity in the early half series. Just 20 to 30 pieces are confirmed, many with impairments or heavy circulation. Auction appearances are infrequent, seldom exceeding one or two examples over the course of several years. This pleasing O-114 displays smooth, light- to medium-gray surfaces with only a few small marks. A shallow, hair-thin abrasion below TY of LIBERTY, which requires a glass to view, is the sole mark of any note. The motifs are sharp for the Fine 12 level, and the coin is free of Mint adjustment. The Tompkins Condition Census for the variety is 64,25,25,15,12,12 (7/18).
